Boiling Water Tap for Office in Saudi Arabia: Buyer's Guide

How to choose one plumbed-in tap for hot and chilled water in a Saudi office: sizing for the tea round and summer, BRITA Extra C-Tap vs RoyalFlow, and what your building's tanks mean for filtration.

Two BRITA Extra C-Taps, one filling a glass bottle with sparkling water and one pouring hot water into a glass mug of tea

A boiling water tap for an office in Saudi Arabia has a harder job than the same tap in Europe. It has to serve a full tea round and a steady demand for chilled water through a long summer, and it sits at the end of a building water chain that often runs through an underground tank, a pump and a rooftop tank. This guide is for facilities managers, office managers and fit-out contractors in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and beyond who want to replace kettles and bottle coolers with one plumbed-in tap, and need to pick the right one.

TL;DR

  • Pick the tap for your busiest 15 minutes, and remember that chilled demand matters as much as hot in a Saudi office.
  • For larger offices that need the most robust option, start with the BRITA Extra C-Tap. For smaller commercial kitchens, look at RoyalFlow.
  • Your building's tanks and pipework shape the water the tap receives, so filtration and servicing are part of the choice.
  • Check the cold feed, power, drain and cupboard space before you choose a model.

What a Saudi office asks of a boiling water tap

In many Saudi offices the pantry is busy all day. Tea and Arabic coffee are served to staff and visitors, and in the hot months people want cold water as much as hot. A kettle, a separate water boiler and a bottle cooler can end up side by side on one counter, each needing its own care.

A boiling water tap for an office replaces all three with one plumbed-in fitting. Hot water, chilled water and, on some models, sparkling water come from a single spout fed by the mains. There are no bottles to order, store or lift.

The choice comes down to three things: how much hot and chilled water you need at your peak, where the equipment will sit, and how the water reaching the pantry has been stored.

Sizing for the tea round and the summer

Size the tap to the busiest 15 minutes of the day, not the number of people on the payroll. A tap reheats and re-chills all day, so total use is rarely the problem. A short, sharp peak is.

Work it out in four steps:

  1. Count the people who use that pantry, plus a typical number of visitors.
  2. Watch the busiest 15 minutes and count the hot drinks poured. The morning tea round is a common peak, but your office will have its own pattern.
  3. Multiply that figure by four for an hourly rate.
  4. Check it against the tap's rated hot output, and do the same for chilled water.

Here is an example. A team of 60 pours 25 hot drinks in its busiest 15 minutes. That is 100 drinks an hour. At about 250 ml each, the tap needs to deliver around 25 litres of hot water an hour. The BRITA Extra C-Tap with its large boiler is rated at 30 litres an hour, so it covers that peak.

Chilled water deserves the same care. In summer, staff refill bottles and glasses through the day. The BRITA Extra C-Tap has a rated cooling capacity of 85 litres an hour, which is why we lead with it for larger Saudi offices.

If one pantry serves several floors or a large visitor area, plan for two taps. Two taps also mean the pantry keeps working while one is being serviced.

Our office boiling water taps compared

For larger offices and busy sites, the BRITA Extra C-Tap is our most robust choice. One brushed steel tap gives ambient, chilled still, semi-sparkling, sparkling and hot water up to 95 °C, with anti-scald protection. The boiler and chiller sit under the counter. BRITA filtration to 0.5 micron is built in and conditions against limescale to protect the boiler. For a closer look, read our BRITA Extra C-Tap guide for Saudi workplaces.

For smaller commercial pantries, the RoyalFlow commercial range gives boiling, chilled and sparkling water from one tap, with a compact unit under the sink. Our guide on which RoyalFlow tap suits your site goes through each model.

These figures come from the manufacturers' published data. Treat them as a starting point for your own peak.

The BRITA Extra C-Tap gives hot water up to 95 °C rather than a full boil. That suits tea, coffee and instant food. If you need water at a full boil, choose the RoyalFlow BCS.

Your building's water chain

Most of the Kingdom's drinking water is desalinated seawater. The Saudi Water Authority is the largest producer, and in places such as Riyadh province, desalinated water is blended with groundwater. So the water in one city can taste and behave differently from another. Across the GCC, GSO 149 sets the standard for unbottled drinking water.

What matters most for your tap is what happens after the meter. A typical Saudi building adds an underground tank, a transfer pump, a rooftop tank and a run of pipes. Rooftop tanks sit in strong summer sun, and warm, still water loses its chlorine. Some buildings also top up from tankers. The World Health Organization's guidance on water safety in buildings treats storage as one of the main places where quality is lost.

This is why the filter on a boiling tap matters. It improves taste, reduces chlorine and protects the boiler from scale, which can build faster where groundwater is blended in. Ask your landlord or facilities provider when the tanks were last cleaned. The tap is a final step for the water, not a replacement for clean tanks. You can read more in our guide to whether you can drink tap water in Saudi Arabia.

Pantry checks before installation

Before you choose a model, confirm the pantry has:

  • A cold water feed near the tap position, with an isolating valve.
  • A dedicated, fused power supply close to the unit. Hot models draw more power than chilled-only ones, so check the datasheet.
  • A drain or waste where the model needs one, and a sink or drip tray under the spout.
  • Ventilated cupboard space for under-counter units. Chillers release heat, and a closed, hot cupboard makes them work harder.
  • Space for a CO2 cylinder if you want sparkling water.
  • Clear access for the engineer.

Keeping the tap safe and in service

A shared pantry has many users, including visitors who have never seen the tap. Look for a child lock or push-and-hold action on the hot button, an insulated spout and clear marking on each button. Place the tap where people do not reach across it.

Servicing should be agreed with the purchase. A good plan includes filter changes, a hygiene clean of the spout and a check of temperature and flow. In buildings with stored water, the filter may need changing sooner. Our maintenance plans cover all of this. Following the manufacturer's schedule also keeps the warranty valid.

BRITA or RoyalFlow: which tap for your office

Both taps are plumbed in, with the boiler and chiller in the cupboard below the sink. The choice comes down to the size of the team, the water types you want and how hot the water needs to be.

Choose the BRITA Extra C-Tap if:

  • The pantry serves roughly 20 to 100 people, or a busy visitor area.
  • You want five water types, including semi-sparkling and sparkling.
  • Chilled demand is high in summer. Its chiller is rated at 85 litres an hour.
  • Hot water up to 95 °C is enough for your tea and coffee.

Choose RoyalFlow if:

  • The pantry is smaller, such as a branch office or a single floor.
  • You need water at a full boil.
  • Cupboard space is tight. The RoyalFlow BCS under-sink unit measures 230 × 435 × 395 mm.

If you are unsure, send us your peak figures and we will match the tap to them.

A buyer's checklist for Saudi offices

Before you ask for quotes, have answers to these:

  • How many staff and visitors use the pantry, and how many hot drinks go out in the busiest 15 minutes?
  • How much chilled water do people drink on a summer afternoon?
  • Do you need boiling only, or boiling with chilled and sparkling?
  • Is there a ventilated cupboard under the sink with room for the boiler and chiller?
  • Where are the nearest cold feed, power point and drain?
  • When were the building's tanks last cleaned, and does the building top up from tankers?
  • Who will change the filters, and how often?

Frequently asked questions

Which boiling water tap is best for a large Saudi office?

For larger offices that need the most robust option, we lead with the BRITA Extra C-Tap. It gives five water types, a large boiler rated at 30 litres an hour and chilled water rated at 85 litres an hour. For several floors, plan for two taps.

Does a boiling water tap work with water from a rooftop tank?

Yes. The tap is fed from your building's cold supply, wherever that comes from. Stored water can lose chlorine and pick up sediment, so a good filter and regular filter changes matter. Keep the tanks cleaned on schedule as well.

Do I still need a water cooler if I have a boiling water tap?

Not if the tap also gives chilled water. Taps such as the BRITA Extra C-Tap and RoyalFlow BCS give hot and chilled water from one spout, so one fitting can replace the kettle and the cooler.

Is a hot water tap the same as a boiling water tap?

Not always. The BRITA Extra C-Tap gives hot water up to 95 °C, which suits tea and coffee. The RoyalFlow BCS gives water at a full boil. Check the datasheet if a full boil matters to you.
